I have a refrigerator in the basement where I keep my bottled beer (and soda). I was recently shocked to find Busch beer amongst all of my rare and unusual beers. Apparently left over from when Donna and Tim visited.

The picture shows the Busch sitting next to a $20 bottle of Dogfish Head Brewery’s Fort.

Most disturbing. Like finding a huge grub in your salad. (Which happened to my mom once in Saudi Arabia, if’n I remember correctly…)

Projects 2:26 pm

I finally finished up the crenellations on Saturday. I had maybe 2/3 or 3/4 of the boxes built, but none were attached. Five plus pound wooden blocks sitting on a rail eleven feet over the ground, above where small children are playing. Just waiting for a stiff wind. What a recipe for disaster. (Luckily fate hasn’t been cooking…)

I still need to put in the three screens in the back of the sandbox, put up the "drawbridge" ramp into the sandbox, build a door at the entrance of the sandbox, and rip some boards to fit in the gaps.

After all of that is done, Kel is gonna paint it "rock" gray, and we’ll paint outlines of rocks to give it the appearance of a real castle.

The only time Keira will play in it is when other kids visit. Dyson will go out if Kel or I go with him. Kel sometimes goes out and plays in the sandbox after work. (I think the stress of annual budget time is getting to her…)

Warning - nude torso of an out-of-shape middle-aged man ahead…

Sometimes it’s hard to get out of bed. Oh, not because I don’t want to go to work, or because I stayed up too late, or because I drank too much fine homebrew the night before. (Well, those all play into it on a regular basis, but that’s not what I’m talking about now…)

No, sometimes it is literally difficult achieving the transition from the supine position to the vertical position. Most mornings, my lower back is at its most painful. Some days knotted muscles pull my back into an "s" shape. Even trivial jolts or changes of direction can send shooting pains through my back, capable of dropping me to my knees.

I usually overdo it when working on the playground, or whatever, and end up in pain for days. Other times, there seems to be no correlation to my activities.

Recurrences seem to be more frequent in recent months.

I really need to start doing the exercises that the physical therapist recommended…

And, here’s the picture. I’m standing as straight as I can. (And, yes, I’m sucking in my gut for obvious reasons…) I’m NOT "cocking" my hip to one side. You can see the difference between my sides and my arms…

This isn’t the worst it’s been, but it was pretty bad this day (last Sunday).
