McDonald’s has a campaign going for their "snack wrap" talking about the importance of a mid-afternoon snack.

Yeah.

Sure, American’s are, for the most part, not getting enough to eat.

No, most of us aren’t overweight from eating massive portions of nutrient-deficient junk for lunch.

Yep, we need to visit McDonald’s between lunch and quitting time or we’ll make poor personal or social decisions.

Okay….

Whenever I tuck Dyson in to bed, I have to come up with positive thoughts about the following day. Something to look forward to…

Tonight, I was talking to him about going for a hike tomorrow after Keira’s violin lesson. (We live close to the Appalachian Trail, so we’ll go up a spur to the trail and come back.) To put it in context for him, I told him that we’d go hunting in the forest, that we’d hunt bunnies. (He had watched Tristan & Isolde a few weeks ago, which started with one of the characters returning from a hunt with two rabbits…)

So, he looked up at me and said, "We’ll be ninjas fighting bunnies!"

Yep.

ROBIN:  Would it help to confuse it if we run away more?
ARTHUR:  Oh, shut up and go and change your armor.
GALAHAD:  Let us taunt it!  It may become so cross that it will make a mistake.

Okay, I said only two beers a night. But it’s Friday, and I have an amazing pale ale on tap. I call it (All but the) Kitchen Sink pale ale. I used up the leftover portions of specialty grains and hops in my brewing pantry.

The funny thing is that Kel has been drinking this beer almost every night. Will she become a hophead? Stay tuned!!

If’n I think of it, I’ll convert the tap handle labels to jpg and upload them…

While I was making dinner a last night (I broiled a flank steak marinated in (good) soya sauce, sautéed portabella mushrooms and steamed some green beans with olive oil), Dyson and I went down to the playground. Here he is swinging on the "glider". That’s some serious, umm, concentration?

Keira saw us out there and had to join us. Apparently, just before leaving the house, Kel gave Keira one of her old scarves. Keira felt the "jaunty" look was appropriate.

Although, to be honest, I’m not sure "jaunty" works on the monkey bars…

Dyson likes to lie on the swing on his belly. With a running start, he can really get the swing going:

Nothing really to say here. Just having fun with my kids…

We have a plant growing in the pool area. I have no idea what it is. The flowers looks a lot like an oversized version of the ones growing on the bushes at the end of our driveway, but the leaves look nothing alike. Also, the one by the pool looks like a weed, the way the plant itself grows and completely dies out at the end of the year. We cut it down in the fall and it grows back in the spring.

The bugs really chew the heck out of the leaves - they end up looking like Belgian lace…

The blooms are more than six inches in diameter.

All around the aforementioned weed/plant, we have a number of bushes that have tiny pink flowers. The bees, yellow jackets, and hummingbirds love them. We also have a huge yellow and black butterfly visit daily. It was getting a little too dark when I took this picture, but…
