Playing a bit with the layout, obviously…
Does anyone (assuming anyone reads this) have a screen resolution less than 1024 pixels wide? If so, it probably doesn’t show the full width of the posts…

I don’t know what my screen’s resolution is, but your layout as it is while I am reading today is perfect - it fits in the monitor just right, even with my Bookmarks list down the left side.
P.S. I’m a new reader - came over from elaynocentricity.com today.
