I was looking for some freeware software to stitch together a couple of images (pictures that I took as preparation for a project that my company is bidding on).

I came across a demo of a program called Autostitch. All you do is tell it which pictures belong in the panorama. It does the rest automatically.

When Kel and I were in Bermuda for our 11th anniversary, we climbed to the top of the lighthouse. Just for the heck of it, I took a picture with my back to each of the 16 "faces" on the balcony at the top.

So, just playing around, I dumped the pictures into Autostitch. I had to crop the top and bottom since the edges were jagged.

Click on the photo below. Be sure to click on the image when it opens the new window (otherwise it is resized to fit your display resolution). Then pan left and right.

I do see one vertical stripe where the colors don’t quite mesh.

Pretty cool, though…

Amazing what computers can do…

(I have a higher resolution version on my computer, but it was too big for the image hosting website…)
